John Woods

Chief Development Officer

John has over 35 years experience in the UK oil industry including 14 years as a Petroleum Engineer and 21 years in Operations Management.

After managing the Scott Asset for Amerada Hess (one of the largest assets in the UK North Sea), he became Production Services Director at Wood Group before leaving to become Chief Developments Officer at Ithaca Energy for 9 years, establishing and steering the operations capability from startup to established multi-field operator.

The Ithaca portfolio under his management ranged from single and multi-well new developments, established fields, and large mature late-life assets. He has developed and established engineering and operations teams in large and small companies -  including operators, the service sector and non-operated joint ventures.

John's strong commercial track record includes negotiating infrastructure access, asset and corporate acquisitions and operations contracts for new and existing assets. John joined i3 in May 2016 to take up a similar role to that which he held at Ithaca..

Iain Campbell

Reservoir Manager

Iain is a Senior Reservoir Engineer with more than 40 years of technical and managerial experience in oil and gas in the North Sea, North America, North Africa, West Africa, Middle East, and the former Soviet Union. Most recently, Iain was a Risk Advisor to Standard Bank on their oil and gas portfolio.

Previously, he held roles as Vice President Engineering, Senior Reservoir Engineer, Technical Advisor, and Group Manager at numerous organizations including RPS Knowledge Reservoir, Halliburton, Dungannon Petroleum, and CVS Holdings. Across his career, Iain has gained deep experience in oil field operations, field re-development, asset evaluation, economic analysis, project finance, reserves estimates and audits, well and reservoir modelling, field development planning, and the management of multi-disciplinary subsurface teams and studies.

In the North Sea Iain has worked for BP, Shell, Talisman, and CNR where he has held roles as Subsurface Team Leader on Buchan, Clyde, and Beatrice fields, and took on the task of production forecasting and optimisation of 114 wells across the four platforms in the Brent field.

Mihai Butuc

Manager, New Ventures

Mihai is a petroleum geoscientist with over 31 years experience in oil and gas exploration and development.

Prior to joining i3 Energy, Mihai worked for Dana Petroleum and Ithaca Energy, where he supported the companies’ organic growth through new exploration prospects and identified high-return acquisition targets with significant upside and quick payback.

He previously worked at the Halliburton Asset Performance Centre in Aberdeen, leading and working on projects across Europe, Kazakhstan and the Middle East, while building and managing an E&P portfolio for new entrants in the UKCS. Before 1996, Mihai held a number of roles in Romania, including Chief of Integrated Studies Service at Petrom and as a geologist at Prospectiuni SA and IPEG Banat.

Mihai graduated as a Diplomat Engineer, Geology and Geophysics from University of Bucharest in 1985.

Ian Little

Drilling & Operations Manager

Ian has over 33 years of experience in the oil and gas industry with BP as a Vice President and Wells Engineering and Operations Manager. After leading wells teams across the globe, he became the Vice President of BP’s global wells organization, responsible for Major Projects and Operated by Others. In this role he developed BP’s strategy for delivering wells as part of an integrated organization, from selecting the right concept through to delivering the detailed basis of design and cost estimate.

The projects sanctioned under his leadership include the giant Shah Deniz phase 2 HPHT gas field in Azerbaijan, Oman’s first onshore tight gas field and BP Trinidad’s first subsea oil development. In this role he also developed BP’s global strategy for wells decommissioning.

Ian has led wells engineering and operations teams in established and emerging basins across North Africa, Gulf of Mexico, and the North Sea. In these roles he was seen as a leader who could build high performing multi-disciplinary teams and deliver technically challenging projects safely and competitively.

Colin Tannock

Geoscience Evaluator

Colin has over 35 years experience in the UK North Sea. Colin started his career at Conoco North Sea in 1978 as a development geologist and petrophysicist in the UK North Sea Fields. Colin went on to become Chief Geologist at Aran Energy Exploration before joining Talisman Energy UK as Area Exploration Manager at where he spent 11 years and was part of the team that discovered and appraised the Beauly oilfield, an untapped pool north of Beatrice and the development of the Halley field for Shell's Fulmar platform.

Most recently Colin was Chief of Subsurface at Iona Energy from 2011 to 2015. Prior to this Colin was the Geoscience and Exploration Manager for TAQA Bratani where he was a member of the evaluation team that successfully proposed the acquisition of Shell's Northern Fields to TAQA.

Colin gained a bachelors degree in geology from the University of Glasgow, followed by an MBA from the University of Strathclyde.

Martyn Eames

Commercial Manager

Martyn has over 35 years experience in the Oil & Gas Industry, initially working for BP and then for Santos. Starting his career in various commercial roles in the UK North Sea and in the USA, he then took up positions as Commercial Manager in Norway, Australia and Papua New Guinea (PNG), Canada and Angola as well as various other management positions. At Santos, Martyn was on the executive leadership team for 10 years, initially as Vice President for Corporate & People and then as Vice President for Asia Pacific, which included accountability for all Santos’ businesses in PNG and Central, South and South-East Asia.

Sheri Barton

Manager Finance and Admin

Sheri has over 27 years of extensive finance and administration experience in various private and public companies.

She has held senior management positions relating to finance, regulatory reporting, administration, controls and reporting procedures, strategic planning, acquisitions, due diligence and business development.

Prior to joining i3 Sheri held the role of International Corporate Manager at Iona Energy, working with its senior management team in the areas of finance and administration.
